Code of Conduct

Our Community

OUR FATHER'S HOUSE

RECOVERY CHURCH NETWORK

Code of Conduct

Our Vision and Purpose

Our Father's House Recovery Church Network exists to bring the hope and healing of Jesus Christ to people who are walking the road of recovery. We are a community built on grace, accountability, and the truth that transformation is possible.

This Code of Conduct exists not to exclude, but to protect — to ensure that everyone who walks through our doors can do so safely, and that the integrity of our community reflects the God we serve.

Welcome and Belonging

Our Father's House is a place for broken people. We do not expect perfection. We do not demand that you have it all together before you walk in. What we do ask is that everyone who is part of this community comes willing — willing to grow, willing to be honest, and willing to respect those around them.

Every person who attends Our Father's House is expected to uphold the values set out in this document. These apply to all members, volunteers, guests, and leaders without exception.

Expected Conduct

Respect and Safety

All members of our community are expected to:

•  Treat every person with dignity and respect, regardless of background, history, or current circumstances.

•  Refrain from abusive, threatening, or intimidating language — verbal, written, or online.

•  Refrain from any form of physical aggression or threatening behaviour.

•  Maintain confidentiality. What is shared in our groups stays in our groups.

•  Honour the space and property of the venues we use.

•  Follow the reasonable instructions of leaders, volunteers, and safeguarding personnel.

•  Respect the boundaries of other members, particularly in relation to personal space and unsolicited physical contact.

Commitment to Sobriety

Our Father's House is a recovery church. Sobriety is not a peripheral value — it is central to who we are and what we believe God is calling us into. We hold that freedom from all mood-altering substances, including alcohol and cannabis, is both possible and part of the wholeness God desires for each of us.

For this reason, we ask that all who participate in Our Father's House are pursuing abstinence from drugs and alcohol, including cannabis. We understand this is a journey, and we do not expect perfection — but we do ask for honest pursuit.

We recognise that not everyone is in the same place on that journey. If someone is not yet ready to let go of substance use, we hold no judgement — but we are honest: Our Father's House may not be the right fit at this time. We would rather be clear about who we are than set anyone up for frustration or harm.

If you believe that alcohol or cannabis use is not harmful to you or is beneficial to you, we respect your right to hold that view — and we gently ask that you consider whether Our Father's House is the right community for you at this time. Our door remains open if that changes.

Behaviour That Will Not Be Tolerated

The following behaviours are incompatible with membership of this community and may result in removal:

•  Attending any Our Father's House gathering under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•  Supplying, offering, or encouraging the use of any substance to another member.

•  Abusive, threatening, or violent behaviour towards any person.

•  Harassment of any kind — including racial, sexual, or faith-based harassment.

•  Deliberate breach of confidentiality in ways that cause harm to others.

•  Conduct that puts the safety of vulnerable adults or children at risk.

•  Persistent disregard for this Code of Conduct after it has been addressed.

How Concerns Are Handled

We handle all concerns with pastoral care and confidentiality. If a concern is raised about your conduct, a leader will speak with you privately and respectfully. In most cases, the aim is restoration, not removal.

Where behaviour poses a risk to the safety of others, or where repeated concerns have not been addressed, the leadership team reserves the right to ask someone to step back from the community. This decision will never be taken lightly.

Agreement

By participating in Our Father's House Recovery Church Network, you are agreeing to uphold this Code of Conduct and to play your part in keeping this a safe, honest, and grace-filled community.
